Registration is very important for a number of reasons:
- A child is insured as a registered member of the club.
- Only a registered child can play in inter club tournaments.
- Trial period - Of course we want to make sure a new child enjoys the game before he/she commits, but we would like to have everyone in regular attendance registered by the middle of September.
- Those who havent registered yet, please complete the attached form and return to Shonagh Thom with the membership fee.
- The club obtains funding from the SRU based on the number of registered players.
So please support your club and register. Thanks to all parents who have already done so!
This season we are delighted to that so many parents have volunteered to help/assist with Garioch Micros & Minis. It is a legal requirement that all club helpers go through the Disclosure Scotland process. All volunteers, even those who help out part time, need to complete the form. Please bring with you: Birth Certificate, passport, driving license and proof of home address in the form of bill or statement. It is all quite painless, takes about 10 minutes to complete, the club pays for it and it all helps towards the cause.
The Garioch RFC Child Protection Officer, will be available in the Club House routinely, by arrangement to ensure the process is correctly completed.
All Coaches and Coach Helpers - Rugby Ready Practical Course
From the start of this season it will be a new minimum requirement for all rugby teachers, coaches and referees in Scotland to complete the new Rugby Ready Practical course. This free course will highlight the importance of safety in our game.
Chris Lawson our Rugby Development Officer has organized three courses locally. Please try and get yourself booked onto one. The course is open to all club members currently coaching and those who would like to assist.

•· Be realistic about the young players abilities; do not push them towards a level that they are
not capable of achieving.
•· Provide positive verbal feedback both in training and during the game. Remember that persistent, negative messages will adversely affect the players and referees performance and attitude.
•· Always support the rugby club in their efforts to eradicate loud, coarse and abusive
behaviour from the game. Remember young people learn much by example.
•· Spectators are a very important part of the game and shall at all times conform to accepted
standards of good sportsmanship and behaviour.
•· Remember children play sport for their enjoyment not yours.
•· Acknowledge good individual and team performance from all youngsters irrespective of the
team for whom they play.
